Chick-fil-A is structurally different from every other quick service system. The Operator pays a $10,000 initial fee and Chick-fil-A funds the restaurant, retaining ownership of the property and equipment. In exchange the company takes 15% of sales plus a share of profit, and the Operator cannot sell the business, own multiple restaurants, or pass it to family.
